CETI team wins Grant for Fertility Innovation award
One of the research projects developed by the CETI team in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto received the internationally renowned Grant for Fertility Innovation (GFI) award , having been distinguished among competitors from 14 countries.
The GFI grant, worth over 100,000 euros, was awarded to Professors João Luís Silva Carvalho and Henrique Almeida and will contribute to a project that has been underway for 5 years and which, through biomolecular technology, aims to create new methods of evaluation and selection of oocytes used in Medically Assisted Procreation (MAP) techniques, thus improving the success rates of these treatments.
With a long-term commitment to addressing infertility, Merck created GFI, integrating medicines and technologies into fertility management strategies.
The GFI demonstrated Merck’s dedication to the field of human reproduction, but it also revealed the need for broader support that goes beyond funding and includes participation in a collaborative network of experts.
