The first infertility consultation - when to schedule and what to expect?
It is not always easy to take the step of scheduling an infertility consultation. Recognizing the problem and moving forward with something that is unknown to us requires some courage. But seeking help at the right time is crucial to making it easier to achieve the goal of getting pregnant.
Infertility is recognized after one year/6 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse without pregnancy. However, some conditions or diseases, as well as advanced maternal age, may justify seeking medical help earlier.
First infertility consultation
During the first infertility consultation, which should always be carried out by a gynecologist, preferably with a sub-specialty in Reproductive Medicine, your general reproductive health is assessed, your clinical history is collected and some tests that the doctor considers relevant are prescribed, both for the female element and for the male element, if it is a heterosexual couple.
If you have recent tests or exams, you should bring them with you to the appointment to avoid unnecessary repeat exams.
Our clinical follow-up is individual and personalized, so your case will be carefully assessed by our doctors. Once diagnosed, we will suggest the best path to follow.
Psychology consultation
During the journey to overcome infertility, you may encounter emotionally draining moments. A good emotional balance is essential to overcome these moments.
For this reason, CETI offers psychological support consultations, with the aim of providing you with tools to better deal with the different emotions that infertility treatment may cause you.
